Cycling in the Loire Valley

Discover the Loire Valley by bike

Many routes are possible to come to the Château du Rivau by bike. They are less crowded then most of the Loire Bike Road and very pleasant. You can take your bike and come from the nearby towns of Chinon, l’Ile-Bouchard, Azay-le-Rideau, Richelieu or Loudun. Here are a couple of itenaries.

Since May 2017, the bike road from Chinon to Richelieu is available for both walkers and bikers : the Green Way ! This former railway line has been converted into a safe cycle path. The 19-kilometre route links Chinon to Richelieu. It is punctuated by a number of stops in cultural, gastronomic, shopping, information and rest areas.

The Château du Rivau, site and hotel, have been awarded the Accueil à Vélo label. We offer a range of services to make it easier for cyclists to get around, including parking for 27 bikes near the entrance to the site and 3 free charging points for electric bikes.

Le Rivau is committed to Slow Tourism

What is the Slow Tourism? It’s a new way of travelling that involves taking your time. It’s a way of enjoying the countryside and discovering new things. This practice is perfectly illustrated by cycling, which allows for contemplation while setting concrete objectives. It’s also in line with ecological values : consume less but consume better, an idea to which Le Château du Rivau is particularly attached. We cultivate our gardens in a sustainable and organised way. So that visitors can wander around, listen to the birds, smell the flowers and take the time to appreciate nature.
